I lived in a house on Minton Drive in the Glendale neighborhood for 11 years during the 1990s. The house was built in 1957 and had many of the original fixtures. In 2003 we decided to put the house on the market, so we began doing updates and renovations. During this time I began to smell a putrid old wet cigarette smell in the kitchen and sometimes would encounter it in other areas of the house as well. It was as though you would just walk into the

smell; it didn't spread around. No one smoked in the house, and it was clean. I never figured it out.
As the remodeling continued, the activity

really ramped up. One morning my husband and I were startled by a loud crash in the back of the house. Our children were visiting their grandparents, and no one else was there. We raced to find what had happened. We discovered a large corner shelf in the bathroom had come off of its bolts and was across the room in the tub. The little teapot that had been on the shelf was found sitting upright in the sink without a mark or crack. It was beyond bizarre.
