I used to live in a house in Orange County, though it was technically in Locust Grove. I lived there for maybe 8 or 9 years, so most of my childhood. The first big thing that happened was that my brother moved downstairs because he kept seeing an apparition of a Civil War soldier outside his door, right by the banister. I didn't hear that until after I told my mom of why I closed my door when sleeping. I was always afraid that the soldier would come into

my room. The fact that my brother and I had never talked about it before made my mom believe it. Dad never believed.
I eventually moved into my

brother's old room, and that's when I realized the full apparition. He'd just stand there. Along with this, we'd always hear slow steady boot steps across the front porch. Sometimes if I looked into the front yard, I'd see more apparitions. Little did I know that our whole neighborhood was partially built over the Battleground of Wilderness. Those ghosts never did hurt me, so I liked to believe that they just stood there to watch over and protect us, as
