Update on the Roanoke River bridge. Here are 2 sites for more information. One of the sites is from wdbj7 news about a incident that happen this October 2008 in the same area on the bridge that I had my experience.

Roanoke River bridge I am a resident here in Roanoke and 2 years ago I was driving along the park way around 3 am from Botetourt county toward Roanoke. As I was driving over the Roanoke River bridge I saw in my head lights on the left side of the bridge (the side that is not facing the dam) a pale girl wearing a long thin dress staring out toward my car.
I thought there was a problem so I slowed down and rolled down my window to ask her if her car broke down. She walked toward my car with a plank expression on her face and faded in front of my eyes like mist.
