I lived on Thornrose Avenue in Staunton almost 17 years ago. We were across the street from the cemetery. I often had encounters with the spirits of at least two soldiers, one Union and one Confederate. The Union soldier I would often see standing in the doorway to my bathroom as I lounged in an old cast iron claw foot tub on the second floor. I would have my head back, almost upside down out of the tub, and would see him standing behind me. Also there

was a HUGE amount of tension between the soldiers, as if they were STILL at war all these years later.
On two separate occasions I felt hands around

my throat while I was sitting on the toilet. I would open my eyes and see a face on the wall next to me, almost growling. Then, the Union soldier would pass through that same wall in front of me, and the tension around my throat would release instantly. It was like he was there to watch over me. It didn't really surprise me to have these experiences being so close to Thornrose Cemetery where there are reportedly over 1700 soldiers buried there. It was also
