As a teenager I lived in a house in the Wonderland Forest neighborhood that was near Driver. On the map it's in the northern area of the Dismal Swamp. My stepfather said that over the years roommates and tenants had always spotted paranormal beings, usually being a pair of children, a woman, and a man.
I had three porcelain dolls that sat on top of my dresser on the edge where you could wind them up, and they would play music, and their upper bodies would

rotate. One day while doing homework on the opposite side of the room, one of the dolls started playing. I looked back at it as it continued and thought

it'd be cute to respond, ''Ha ha very funny.'' As I said that it stopped. It spooked me, so I went into the living room with my parents.
A second circumstance was that I had switched rooms with my parents and now had the smaller bedroom across the house. I was dancing in front of my mirror one day, listening to music in one ear bud when I heard someone whisper loudly into my other ear, ''Stop it!'' I looked toward the voice, and no one was there.
