The original general store on this site was built in 1916 and destroyed by an arsonist in December 1958. The last known Indian in the county was slain in front of the store and buried behind it. It continued to be the gathering place in the village and Santa was known to arrive in the elevator of the 3-story building. The current building's floors contained rutts from the boots in front of the bench where the ole'timers sat and told tales. Since

reopening the business the bells on the door frequently ring but no one is entering. Car doors are heard closing and the sense of other presences are

often felt. This was a happy place and continues to be and contains many artifacts from the fore-fathers of this area. So they are more than welcome to visit, stay a spell and reminisce about the good ole' days. Submitted by Granny's
