There is sleepy little part of Warm Spring known as Mountain Grove, beautiful little area, but blink and you'll miss it. Along VA-39 and State Rte 600 of this area is a small section known as John Landes Hollow.
Many years before I was born, there stood a house at the corner of these two roads. Two elderly gentlemen lived in the house. Story goes that late one night a fire broke out in the house, and one of these gentlemen woke up and got outside.

After a couple of minutes he realized that his roommate had not come out. He rushed back into the burning house to get him. Sadly in the end both died

in the fire.
I heard this story from my parents when I was young, it was rather sad. As I got older, I heard different stories. There where the house once stood there were some remains of the foundation and the chimney. Now the story was that if you went there late at night, you could hear the man calling out in search of his roommate.
