I would like to return to West Point some day to see it again. I've heard that the section of track is no longer in use by the railroad. Also I've read somewhere that the railroad right of way is now on private land and that the owner considers visitors to be trespassers. Too bad. Submitted by Jim
Comment by Jim: I live about a mile from the light. Freight train runs through twice a day (usually around 9 pm and again at midnight. RR tracks and adjoining land is private. Go at your own risk.

It was the late 60's possibly 1967 when we saw or experienced the ''ghost''. We had been coming to West Point for about a year and had seen the light at the curve of the railroad tracks glow and then dim, when other on lookers would create distractions that somehow caused the lights to stop at the curve of the tracks ahead of us. Always we had been told that once the light traveled around and past that curve in the tracks that not any one should move. So, on the night of the sighting that was the most intense for me; we (the four of us) were standing directly in the middle of the tracks.
