In West Point there is an area behind the shopping mall. It is in clearing with power lines. I've seen it few times, and the storms and weather damage has destroyed most of the build there. It has some old stone structure (wells and walls) that should be standing and no public history as far as I know. It has very dark feeling, and there have been some electric and video interference. When cars cross the tracks (after dark) at the other crossing about a 1/2 to 3/4 mile east, one might turn right and travel west on the dirt road parallel to the tracks for some time causing a reflection on top of the rail. When they turn off the light fades away! This is only visible at night, and also if a train has recently used those rails in and out of town. Rusted rail won't reflect that easily.

I was stationed at NAS Norfolk in 1969, and we had heard about this West Point Light. Well, one night we decided to check this out. After a quick stop at the Navy Exchange for some beer we were off. We found the tracks and where a road crossed the tracks. We parked on the tracks. After about 5 minutes a faint orange light appeared down the tracks to the north. As the light came closer, it got brighter. It stopped about 100 yards away and backed up. We started the car, and it was gone.
Later we walked down the tracks and saw the faint orange glow again, but it never got very bright, but it was moving along the tracks. I have no clue what this is, but it's not swamp gas. The friend who took us here said he and his girlfriend had once come here and parked right on the tracks and started to make out. Soon his car was full of bright light, and the light came right at them. It went over the car and down the tracks. Now this I did not witness, so I can't be sure if this is all the truth, but I have seen the West Point Light.
