did it cast in the same way. I started to freak out when I remembered I was on the fourth floor, with no balcony. At the angle he appeared to me, I realized his body was parallel to the ground. Somehow he could walk straight up that way, and his steps had weight to them. No matter what I did to recreate what I saw never worked. Since then I returned home, and I haven't seen him since. People describe my sighting as a shadow man.

I remember one morning when I was staying at my girlfriend's (now my ex) place at Beckley West. We were watching a movie in her bedroom upstairs with the bedroom door wide open. Then all of a sudden we heard heavy footsteps slowly approaching to the top of the steps. We looked at each other and wondered who was in the house when no one else has access to the apartment.

As the footsteps got louder we heard what sounded like a man grunting. It was as if he was struggling to get to the top of the stairs. The footsteps and grunting got louder as it approached the top of the stairs. Then suddenly it stopped. I walked out of the room into the hallway and looked down the stairway, and there was nothing there.

I remember when I was little, my grandmother who had lived in Beckly, West Virginia, told me this story once. When she was little girl, raised in the haunted cabin near the woods. She would hear things go bump in the night, the stove would relight the wood by itself and you smell a pot of beans when no one is cooking it. One day her mother told her to go in to the house and get her purse because she had forgotten it, she did what she was told and when she went inside she saw this heavy dark mist going up the stairs and into one of the rooms. It scared her to death. The cabin isn't there any more.
