Update I just read on another web site that this Henry wells got sturck by lightling in the third coourthouse where he was hid about 12 years after the Civil War was over but it did not kill him but he was hung the very next day and that's when his face was seen in the courthouse! However if you wish to see it then you'll have to look up the Pickens Co courthouse yourself because I don't know how to post it on here! If anybody can help please post

That's not true it was the second courthouse that Henry wells said to have burned down! The frist court house was burned by yankey troops! It took almost all the money Carrollton had after having such a hard time the south being broke after losing the Civil War! Henry wells did had a bad name in the city so they blamed Henry! He was hid in the courthouse window on a day of a bad storm had come the crowd was wanting to break in the court to hang Henry wells and Henry yelled at the crowd '' I did not burn down the courthouse and if you kiil me I'll haunt you for the rest of your lives! Then a blast of lighting struck Henry and it did indeed leave his likeness but you have to come in the daylight to see his face! They say at night you can hear Henry wells in the courthouse talking or crying! I don't understad why somebody hasn't posted his photo yet! If I had the means and knew how I'd do it myself! I've seen Henry wells face many times whenever I'm in Carrollton! You can too!.

The original courthouse burned down and everyone blamed Henry. He was a rowdy man who lived out in the county. He was arrested and locked in the attic of the new courthouse. As a thunderstorm was rolling in, a mob gathered outside demanding that wells be turned over to them.
