I thought that's strange. I looked all around and didn't see any reason why I would be smelling motor oil. Like I said it was only us and another couple in the store and the owner. I believe there may of been a ghost around me.
There could not be any other explanation.

This was back when I was around 3 or 4 years old in my grandmother's house on 3rd. St. N. W. In Decatur, Al. The house has now been torn down. Anyway this all took place in the early 1970s. My sisters and I would stay all night with my grandmother every Tuesday night. I would always sleep in the front bedroom by myself. Sometimes during the wee hours of the morning I would always hear a horse running around the house. Every time it would run, and it would get faster. It sounded like it was going to come through the house, or through the bedroom where I was sleeping. I would tremble and lie there shaking. Sometimes I would think about pulling the shade up, so I could see the horse, but I never did. It sounded like it would put its two front hoofs up on the front porch.

I would also see a woman that would always appear sometime late at night and into the next morning too. She would just check on me. She would look like a shadow figure at times. Once I told my grandmother about the woman. I described her, and she said ''that sounds like mama. '' I looked around the house, and I said ''where is she?'' She then said ''mama, she's in heaven. '' I then asked ''where is that?'' Once she explained to me about how her mother had died, and about heaven, I then asked her if I could sleep with the light on in the room from now on. After that I never heard the horse, or saw her mama. It's possible I chose to suppress it all. I don't really know for sure because I've seen and heard things on and off since I was about that age.

This is sort of the continuation of my ghost story about living with my grandmother in a house on Gordon Drive SW. When my granddaddy passed away I was around 9 or 10 years old. It had been two weeks since he had passed away. I was sitting in his old green leather recliner he always sat in, and I was looking at his smoke stand ashtray also that was beside his chair too. That was when I heard footsteps that was coming from the kitchen which was behind me from the back of the house. They were coming into the dining room, and that was when me, my sister, and grandmother ran out onto the front porch. Those footsteps scared me into shock. I had to be seen twice by a doctor from being so.
