There are many nights me and my friends go walking in downtown Demopolis looking for ghost we have had experiences but mostly near Lyons hall I have heard my name called and we heard a woman singing lullabyes mostly hush little baby so I can say Lyons hall is haunted by Mrs. Lyons.

The gainswood mansion ghost. The lady is named evelyn. She is the sister of general nathan , the builder of the house, second wife. The story is that she kept him company. She loved to play the piano and she had several songs that she would play over and over again.

She later died of an unknown disease, and since it was winter they sealed her into a pine box under the cellar until the ground would thaw. Evelyn was very angry about this idea so it is said that she haunted them until she was buried.
Even after she was buried it is said that she still haunts the mansion and that you can hear her soft footsteps walking down the hallways, and the echoes of her favorite song that she played on the piano.
