MORE GHOST PHOTOS

Moody Brick is a beautiful two story plantation house built before 1855 according to the vertical file at the Scottsboro library. There were several hundred slaves owned by Judge Moody, as they had 2500 acres of land to farm. The house itself was built by hand and every brick was hand made by the slaves.

NOTE * There ARE people living in Moody Brick now. There are electrical fences, livestock and wrought iron fence and gate. There is also a yard dog guarding the place. NEVER EVER TRESSPASS - THE OWNERS DO NOT LIKE GHOST HUNTERS.

During the war between the states, this house was also a field hospital for soldiers who fought in the civil war. Injured soldiers were sent by train out of Chattanooga to Moody Brick to convalesce.

Up until 20 to 30 years ago, the basement still bore the iron shackles that were used as punishment for the slaves, as well as a place to confine the enemy (Union Soldiers) during the war. If a soldier died at Moody Brick while trying to recuperate from his injuries ( a lot of amputation of limbs was done) was buried in a shallow grave in the front and side yards, as were any amputated limbs. Any Union soldier who died while at Moody Brick was buried a ways from the house, as they were the enemy at that time.

There are at least 3 cemeteries on this property, one belonging to the original family, and at least one other for the slaves. It was common knowledge that the overseer was particularly brutal and mean to the slaves. Union soldiers who died at the house were buried outside of the cemeteries, as they were the enemy. Soldiers who needed operations and lost limbs, had those limbs buried all over the yard in what is now the driveway.

The house has been rumored to be haunted for many, MANY YEARS.

I have been out to Moody Brick on many occasions. During one of those trips, I just happened to meet the owners mother and father out there and they were gracious enough to give me a tour of the wonderful old house.

The house is absolutely beautiful and full of history.

I was given permission to take photos by the owners mother who would check on the property while repairs were being made

I did not lie, I am a huge history buff and LOVE old architecture.

I simply did not mention I am also a paranormal investigator as I badly wanted to see the beauty of this home inside and out.

In the photos I took of Moody Brick, you will see some pretty amazing stuff! One day as I was taking photos on the property, the caretaker was gone and none of the workmen were there, I knocked on the door several times, and all vehicles were absent. I stood back in the yard to get a shot of the front of the old plantation and was shocked to find a man in the upper/second story glass door! He appears to be wearing a hat

of some kind (it could be a soldiers hat from the Civil War), possibly a vest and tie? I'm not sure, so YOU decide.

The other photo is of my dad, looking into an old shed that used to be on the property. It was torn down a few years ago, but I will never forget that photo. As my dad peers into the shed, something with a very ugly face is pressing up against his stomach! (See photo)

I have many more photos of Moody Brick, but I think you get the gist of it... This last photo was taken at night at Moody brick, and again, no one was there. The person who used to be the caretaker (according to the owners mother) went a little crazy and was drinking heavily. One day he just up and left and never came back, so I was quite alone there, or so I thought. Pointing my camera up towards the second story windows I got a startling photo!

There is a face in the second story window, and the upper face, is actually on the underside of the eves... Not in the window at all.

I believe these photos speak for themselves, but YOU BE THE JUDGE. - Ghost picture submitted by Rita Strugala

I used to work with a few from this area. They claimed that if you drove by when it was raining, a man with no head can be seen walking near the road.
