I've seen the ghost train. It runs from Bangor, Alabama to Hanceville with links in Oneonta on tracks which no longer are laid down. Submitted by Jim

There is also a haunted railroad in Hanceville. You hear someone. Walking on the tracks behind you and no ones there also the lights at the crossing sometimes go off when no train is in sight sometimes the Bells ring too we called the railroad company in that area, and had them check the electrical units to see if was causing the lights to go off without an approaching train they said the crossing was fine and had no explanation for the odd events that occurred!.

There are many paranormal happenings within the Hanceville city limits. Many folks don't believe it. You just have to look hard enough. I know way back around the early 1900's there used to be a settlement in Hanceville. This settlement was named Hopewell. It stretched about the length of the neighborhood next to where Hopewell Baptist church stands today. The settlement hadn't been around too long before early one morning a f3 tornado literally wiped out the whole settlement.
