Everything I have read about Fort Harker states there were no battles fought there, however, there were small skirmishes in the area.
I have been to Fort Harker many, MANY times, and I have come away with what I believe to be, legitimate proof, that Fort Harker is still occupied today, with the spirits of the men who once served their Country there.
The first one I want to share with you, I got the very first time I went to Fort Harker and after that, I was hooked! It's a very simple photo, yet powerful, because Fort Harker is not a real big place. You would definitely know if someone else was there same time you are, and yet, in all the years I've been going there (at least a decades worth) I have yet to ever see another living soul there. At the time I took this picture it was in the later afternoon when the shadows were getting long... I was down by the deck they have built for people to come and relax (only at the time I took this photo, it was approx. 3 years before the deck was built). My back to the water, I shot my photo up the side of the fort, and I was very surprised to see the partial face of a man, sitting on top of the fort wall.
It is so peaceful and beautiful at Fort Harker and up until a year or so ago, there was not even a house closer than a mile away, now they have trailer houses (about 6 of them) right up to the fence, which really takes some of the magic and beauty of the park away for me.
I go out to Fort Harker every few months and I have rarely been disappointed in the proof of paranormal activity I see in my pictures.
The next photo was taken inside Fort Harker facing the entrance where the draw bridge used to be. There are no longer any structures of any kind remaining at Fort Harker, it is nothing but an earthen fort there now. As I looked at this photo, something struck me as really REALLY odd... There, lying on the ground, is a finger... Complete with finger nail, and it looks to be pointing at a transparent torso coming out of the weeds! I can't possibly tell you WHY it is there... All I can tell you is the appendage is NOT in any of the other photos I have taken there!
Another peculiar photo I took just as I was leaving Fort Harker one day. I had been speaking to the spirits the whole time I was there snapping pictures that day. I had thanked them for allowing me to come into there home to take pictures, and I really did hope they had taken the opportunity to show themselves to me in the photos. I told them I would be back again in a few weeks, and this was the last chance to jump into one of my pictures for that day as I was leaving. That last photo contained a very large mist, and if you look very closely, you can see a partial outline of whatever was forming at that time. Of course, I saw none of that with my naked eye... Mores the pity.
I also got a photo of a soldier in the shade of one of the tree's. This was very exciting, as it is the one and only time I got a paranormal picture that after doing some research, was able to verify the spirit as being historically accurate in that place. The picture is not a great one for showing the spirits features, however, it clearly shows the patch this soldier wore on his shoulder... And according to a history book from the Library, I was able to trace the patch as one that was worn by some troops who were from a Texas regiment, and who was sent to Demopolis Alabama during the Civil War. From Demopolis, a regiment was dispatched to Fort Harker to help in the construction of the Fort. The patch was authenticated by this history book. (See the photo with the patch).
The next photo shows just how magically beautiful Fort Harker can be, and if you are not paying close attention, how easily you could miss something there... Like a man's head coming up out of the ground and looking right at me! If I didn't see the photo, I never would have believed it! Honestly don't even know what to say except WOW!
I have many more photos I could share, but I will leave you with this one... It is what we call in this business, a ''Residual Haunt''. A residual haunt is really not a ghost at all... It is something that happens when the atmospheric conditions are right, and like a movie, it plays the scene over and over again. It can be of a person doing something, in this case, it is of an old house that was probably there at one time, but has been gone for many years now. A residual haunt is NOT an intelligent haunt. If it involves a person... Such as... Say you see a girl walking towards you with a bucket of water. She gets just so far and them disappears. Anytime you see this girl, she will be doing the exact same chore, wearing the exact same thing every time. She will take the exact same path every time, and will disappear at the exact same point every time. Even if this girl is looking right at you, she can not see you and will never acknowledge you. If you speak to her she will not speak to you or alter her path in anyway. She isn't really even a ''ghost''. She is a memory that was imprinted upon time, and replays that exact same scene every time the atmospheric conditions are right. You can not interact with her, and she can not interact with you, and that is what I have here in this photo. At some point and time there was a house by Fort Harker, and the atmospheric conditions just happened to be right the day I was there, and I was lucky enough to catch a photo of it... Not only on my digital camera... But also on my 35 mm film camera! Now THAT doesn't happen very often!
Fort Harker is an awesome place to visit, and it is still very active. So if you want to try to capture some ghostly photos, or just enjoy a site that is rich in history, there is no fee to spend time at Fort Harker, I would highly recommend it!.

I was investigating the Stevenson City Cemetery which is a large cemetery of well tended graves and houses right across the street. A team member of mine and myself decided to check the place out. The day was beautiful, sunny, and 75 degrees, much too beautiful to spend the day indoors. At approx. 3:30pm in the month of May we walked the cemetery taking photos.
As we walked along and talked about the architecture of this headstone vs. That headstone, I noted children laughing and playing. I mentioned it to my friend Amanda and she too said she had been hearing it. I scanned the cemetery and found no other living soul with us, however as an investigator, it is my job to play ''Devil's advocate''. I figured with the houses so close to the cemetery it was more likely than not children outside playing in the neighborhood. It actually sounded as if it were coming from within the cemetery, but I also know how easy it is with the right acoustics for sound to carry.
As we walked on through the cemetery, we would hear a shriek of laughter here, and a giggle of laughter there, but we never saw any children outside in the yards surrounding the cemetery, or in the cemetery itself. I committed it to memory and promptly forgot all about it as I focused on my task.
Later that evening, back at home, I went through the photos I took that day. To my amazement, in one of the photos, a small child, almost completely visible, was climbing a headstone, wearing what appears to be a black cloak.... And that wasn't all! Also in the background of the same photo, is a man, in different clothing, seemingly of another era, along with a wide brimmed hat, not at all what I would expect to see in mid May in Alabama when the temperature is in the 90's!
A few photos later, I ran across this photo, and to me it looks like the face of a Native American girl in the woods watching me. I do know there were Native Americans here at one time in the distant past, so it really looks to me as if she belongs there.
In another photo, I caught the profile of a young woman walking through the cemetery, and in the same photo, the face of a man holding a child!
I have never heard anything associated to that cemetery, as having ''The Blue Lady'' but I'll be danged if I didn't capture a photo of one! All in all, I'd have to say the town of Stevenson itself, is VERY HAUNTED, and the Stevenson City Cemetery, certainly lives up to that title!.
