My great grandmother always told the best tales that would put the fear of God into you. I was so young when I heard them that I have forgotten all but two. West Blocton was born a mining town and back in it's prime was an impressive place.
Sadly the town has declined over the years and not much is left. Folks still hold the town in high esteem and I must admit there was not a better place to grow up. In it's prime Blocton had a movie theatre.

those days it was not unusual for kids to walk about for miles even late at night without fear of being snatched up and murdered. Those were good and

truly peaceful times. Well story goes that my uncle Dub had gone to the picture show in town and was walking back home to Belle Ellen around mid October.
Seems the show had let out around 7:30 and he had hung around talking it up with friends. He got on the road late and it was a good little trek to get home. He was humming his way down the old dirt road thinking about a little bit of everything.
About halfway there my uncle started to feel like something
