I lived in Fernandina from the beginning of 1968 until 1970. My husband (then) was with a company that moved us about on different projects. We rented a place on 7th Street close to town. My nextdoor neighbor owned it and was a retired school teacher. She showed me a map or possibly a copy of a map that showed the town of Fernandina in 1865. It had the houses drawn instead of just the streets. She said her house and mine had a walkway attaching the upstairs

of both houses at that time and was a girls' school. It showed stables in the back. She said the horses and carriages would go under the walkway to get

to the back where the stables were.
There were many things that happened in that house that I thought were odd or creepy, but I never really said too much about it. I believe my husband, being somewhat older than I am, thought something was going on, but didn't want to scare me. One night I awoke in the middle of the night hearing a noise. When I opened my eyes, from our bedroom I could see through the dining room into the kitchen where it appeared
