Around the summer of 2006 my husband and I moved into a rental house on one of the canals that go out to the lake. My landlord had just purchased this home from a man who was eager to sell his parents' property since it was entrusted in his care while his elderly mom was in a nursing home. was so strange going through someone's belongings, but it gives you idea of who they were. I went through receipts, paystubs, pictures, furniture, and

lots of garbage. So I knew the names of the previous owners that lived there.
We had lived there for a few months, and everything was quiet. It was very quiet out there. One day (and I remember it like yesterday) I was alone at home having a day off to do my chores.
