I moved to Ocoee from Kentucky in November of 2010. I applied for and was approved for an apartment before making the trip, and when I got there the apartment wasn't ready, so I stayed in a cheap motel with my kids and my u-haul full of everything I owned. Everyday I called the manager of the apartment and was given different excuses. Finally after the third day my mother and I just decided to go riding around, and maybe find something else for rent.

happened upon an old two-story home for rent. We contacted the landlady, and she met us within half an hour or so. We were so desperate to have a place

to live, and we only cared about having a roof over our heads. It was odd that the second floor was shut off. The next day we went to have the water and electricity connected, only to discover the deposit was going to be over six hundred dollars. We didn't have it, so we moved in and lived there about a month with no electricity. I cooked our meals on a little propane camping stove, washed clothes by hand, and hung them out to dry.
