It all began around 1 am when the power went out. This was the first time this has happened without a storm and immediately after I heard what sounded like a gunshot. Naturally I was concerned being in a nice neighborhood.
I am in no way afraid to defend my home so I told my parents what I heard and proceeded to make a quick sweep of the house with my gun. The power came back as I finished my sweep and I went back to bed.
Ten minutes later

my mother comes into my room asking if I broke a glass or something. She heard a crash originating near their room (I didn't hear it) and asked if I would

check the windows and doors (this time all lights were on).
I then set the alarm system and went back to bed. What happened after this is truly unexplainable. I began to hear thuds from the rooms adjacent to mine as if someone was stomping and / or moving things around.
I was on edge at this point believing someone was in the house but every time I investigated there was nothing. Then I heard the sounds of locked windows trying to be opened from the rooms
