I grew up in my grandmother's house near Buck Lake. I knew from a very young age that there was some sort of otherworldly presence in that house. My grandmother had lived there since the 70s. The house was built in the 1800s and still had horse hair mixed with cement in the walls, which is a century old building technique. It was a huge old house right off Highway 90.
As a kid, I was scared to go upstairs because I felt like I was being watched. It was a feeling like no other. I had never felt it anywhere else. Nobody lived on the second story. Even as a teenager, I had to leave a light on when I stayed over in the spare bedroom because of the eerie feeling I always had over there. It was like the second story had some sort of evil presence in it, but the ground floor was very comforting and homey. It was almost like my uber-religious grandmother was able to keep whatever spirits from entering the first floor. My grandmother once told me that when she was younger she had a severe lung infection and slept in the living room one night, so she didn't wake her husband and the kids with her coughing. She claims she was confronted by the devil himself in that house. He told her she was going to die of infection. She didn't die; however, the stories like this that she told me kept me on guard most nights when I stayed over.

There is a haunted house out Meridian - off Nautilus Circle. 3206 to be exact. It has sold a couple of times but odd things have happened in that house - mysterious lights coming on, knocks on door when no one there; car lights coming into garage and no car; hearing whispering voices battery operated toys going off on their own, even when battery dead. Doors shutting, shower going when no one home, seeing child walk up driveway no one there, seeing lawn mower handle move upward no one there. Hearing engine turn off at the car no one there etc. Very spooky. Ghost-hunters should inspect that home though I doubt the current owner is even aware of the past hauntings there. Just thought I would pass that along. Perhaps that home lies on a cemetery being it is on a hill. Submitted by Anonymous
Comment by K: I lived there for a few years and never had any of that happen at all.
