one night before they left, they had used that machine and then put it in its correct location. The following morning, they were not able to open the door to the projection room corridor. They went around the building and entered the corridor through a fire exit. They found that somehow during the night, this very heavy machine had been moved in front of that door. They never could figure it out. Submitted by Anonymous

In 1991 my partner and I purchased our first home, a 1941 bungalow on East Henry Avenue in Old Seminole Heights. It had three bedrooms and one bath. The guest room was located near the bathroom and kitchen. When I prepared for guests I detected a strong odor of collard greens and fried chicken in the guest room; my partner never sensed it. Our neighbor across the street would sit on her front porch smoking and stare at our home. She often told us that our interior and exterior lights would turn on and off in various rooms, especially when she knew we weren't home. I also felt the presence of a male spirit while I was grooming in the morning (shaving, combing my hair, knotting my tie. ) The activity increased during our loving renovation of the home; we worked diligently to restore it to its 1940s motif.

At the Tampa Library I researched the city directories and learned that a Mr. Chapman built the house in 1941; in the 1953 directory indicated his wife was now a widow and lived at another local address. I started talking to Mr. Chapman. An elderly neighbor later revealed that she recalled Mr. Chapman and that he grew ill and moved into the room near the kitchen and bath for convenience. The room where I smelled the southern cooking, a style we didn't cook. She described the Chapmans as ''Southern Crackers. '' When we sold the house and moved out the furniture, and my partner was alone in the house completing the final cleaning, he heard the side door open and footsteps walk across the hardwood floors, echoing in the empty house. He thought it was me returning. It was not. When I finally returned home, he was white as a ghost and shared his experience. On the floor we saw a wooden tile from a Scrabble game. It was the letter Y. I was convinced Mr. Chapman's spirit was asking ''why?'' We were leaving his former home, the home we had lovingly restored. It was then that I believed he had been attached to me and watched me during my morning ritual. I explained to him that we were moving to a new home closer to my family and that he would like the young couple moving in and expecting a baby. Submitted by Gary
Comment by Blown away: That was a good story and I enjoyed it. I wish more people could be so specific.
