There are many haunted graveyards in Baker County. Also the old court house in the Newton, GA. Rumor has it that the man who designed the court houses for Baker, Early and other southern counties was accused of something. He was held prisoner in Newton at the old jail. (Jail no longer exists). He was apparently scared of being found guilty and hanged himself in the old jail. If you are lucky enough to get a personal tour, you can hear footsteps and

voices. Also, many were hanged on the courthouse square. One notorious case of injustice occurred at court house. An African American man was accused

of being a peeping tom. Before the trial, he was tied to a vehicle, by his scrotum and drug around the courthouse until he was murdered. The men that committed this monstrosity were all found innocent by trial and jury and never spent one day behind bars. Countless others were hanged in the courthouse square. I can get access to the courthouse at times. I would consider taking a few others with me, if anyone willing.
