I've lived in Ellijay my whole life, and I can tell you first hand that some strange things go on at all times of the day. Out on Highway 282 close to the Chatsworth-Ellijay county line you can stand in the woods at midnight, and you can hear a baby crying. Then you will hear screams and a gunshot. There are also many Civil War graveyards and Indian burial grounds out in the Whitepath/Boardtown area. When I was sixteen my two other friends and I went to the city cemetery on top of the hill above Downtown Ellijay. We checked out some of the graves that had been there for 200 years, the presences we felt and saw were unbelievable. Then up in Cashes Valley which is in the Cherry Log area, close to the end after the 3 fjords you cross after there is an old church graveyard for the Cashes Valley Church of Christ. The church burned down before I was ever born, but my great grandparents have fond memories of the church, and they even have pictures of them in front of the church.
Anyhow the graveyard is very old, so old that you have to watch where you walk or you might cave in the buried tomb. Some of the people buried there have stones with writing on them as tombstones. Some even say died in the early 1700s. There are some very unsettling presences there, and I've been to this graveyard more times than I could count, but never at night! Another note on the graveyard is that there was an old woman whom I attended church with for years was buried there in 1998. I can hear her talking to me as plain as day, and I've even seen a presence that looked a lot like her. Also in the Blue Ridge area many of you have heard about Tilly Bend, the old Baptist church with the graveyard on the hill, I can tell you that this church and graveyard is very much haunted. You can look in the church and see an old man in a hat and a suit, which I've been told was a preacher there in the 1800s.

Also at the top of the cemetery is a witch's tombstone which even has the mark of a witch. And I'll tell you simply to stay away from that one. You can also see balls of fire inside the church on occasion. I'll let you know as well that you do not want to go inside the church at night, because sometimes it's locked and sometimes it's not. If you go in, and it's unlocked it's likely the spirits residing there unlocked it, and want you to come inside. There were many people hanged there as well and their spirits will follow you all the way to Aska Road. And I've heard many people say they have trouble with their cars not starting when they attempted to leave, which happened to me as well, and what was strange was that the vehicle had a brand new starter, alternator, battery, spark plugs, wires, and distributor. So you can figure that one out for yourself.

Cossawatte River Resort is haunted. I used to work in public safety and I had gone on many calls that there were no sane explanations for the activity. My kids found an alter back on a trail in Eagle Mountain, there are many cases and sightings of devil worshipers.
