We can hear the gun fire/cannon fire coming from post as well but at times when there is no training going on. But not surprised given the history of the area. Submitted by Andrea

When I moved to Fort Benning for the second time in my life I moved to main post on Austin Loop. I remember it was the first week I was there. I looked out of my kitchen window to see a child dressed in 1920s era clothing chasing a ball across the driveway. I then looked again to see that nothing was there. My second encounter with what I believe could have been an old miss that could have died or worked in the house.

I was in the living room watching TV with my mother, and I went to get something from the ''maids quarters,'' which was the guest room. However, back when racism was still strong in the south I believe they have higher ranking men maids that could have lived there. I went to go get something from the guest room (aka the ''maids quarters. '') Something or someone said to me in a soft spoken voice like you would hear on the movie say ''hello'' to me. I quickly ran into my living room where my mother was sitting. I moved to another state about two months after that, and nothing has bothered me like that since. Submitted by anonymous
