After moving to the top of Turnbull Hill on the property site of an old Civil War Judge Waller T Turnbull, our family repeatedly encountered paranormal activity. The property was definitely a playground for spirit(s). One evening my daughter was in the upstairs master bathroom, fixing her makeup and hair. Since it was a Jack n Jill bathroom I was in there with her. She looked to her left and saw the apparition of a Civil War soldier staring at her. She stopped what she was doing and went quickly downstairs. The door to that room would slam, and there was running back and forth from that room upstairs to my daughter's room on the other end at night.

Every time we left home for several hours, we would set the alarm to the house. We would leave in our car from the house, and the alarm would go off and call the alarm company. The alarm company would then call Floyd Co Police Department, and they would follow up on the alarm company's call. This was happening repeatedly at $50 per alarm call, so we finally quit setting the alarm. The alarm company would always tell us the activity setting off the alarm would come from the upstairs bedroom. We didn't have anyone or any pets around to set the alarm off. Finally, they asked if we had suspected paranormal activity.
In the entrance hall of this house I had hung a shelf and put a decorative candle holder and candle in it. One night during a thunderstorm I heard a thud on the floor. The candle in the candlestick was lying on the floor. I moved the shelf and put the candle stick in another room after that, and it happened again. We finally moved from Rome, and I gave the shelf candle holder and candle stick away before leaving our home. There was also an incident with a toy in my daughter's upstairs bedroom in which the toy would activate. I had to manually turn the toy off.
The house of this Civil War judge had burned to the ground before 1935. The fire ruins stayed in place until our home was built by another family. When we moved in all of this paranormal activity started happening around us. When asking the wife of the builder of this house if she had ever experienced such things when she lived there, she would repeatedly make me feel like my imagination was running away with me. I did some research and found out that a child George Turnbull had died in that fire. I was never able to put my fingers back on that information even thought I re-hunted for it several times.
