Our family home is haunted. When our youngest sister was young, she complained of hearing unusual noises at night in the bedroom she shared with her older sister. We all chalked it up to possums or raccoons, both of which used to frequent our area.
Not until I was in college, did I begin to understand what she was talking about. While attending Valdosta State College, I would come home to eat lunch. Our Dad was deployed to Okinawa with the USAF at the

time. As I sat at our dining room table, I distinctly heard footsteps begin at the front door, walk across the carpet runner in the back hallway, back
|
onto the hard-wood floor, and onto the tile in the main bathroom. Assuming one of my siblings had stayed home from school, I went to investigate. Needless to say, no one was in the house, and all the doors and windows were securely locked.
Over the years we have heard many knocks, bumps, and footsteps in that same hallway. Whatever is there, it does not seem malevolent but more protective.
