The first time I opened the door there was a foul smell. My brother and I laughed it off saying it smelled like an old retirement building. I thought nothing of it. I had the carpet professionally cleaned and soon didn't smell that smell for a while. There were also different things about the apartment that seemed odd. The back door looked as if it had been kicked in or somehow knocked     off the hinges, and no matter how clean I was there was a roach infestation in there. During 2005 after Hurricane Katrina, I met my biological father. He was from the islands of Jamaica. I was excited about seeing him and offered him to stay the night or two, so we can get to know each other. My dad slept in the living room and was a light sleeper. One night he got up to use the restroom and said he noticed a dark shadow at my door as if it was waiting for the right time to come in. He told me to cover myself and pray for protection.
