I spent my childhood summers with my grandparents. Across the street was a large home owned by a prominent family. The lady used to bake gingerbread cookies for me and invite me over to pick them up. I usually went to the kitchen door but this particular day the kitchen door was locked so I went to the front door which was unlocked.
It was a sunny day but the long hallway was dim. As I got even with the living room I saw a tall lanky man at the end of the

hall dressed in a white shirt rolled up sleeves and a Fedora hat. He didn't say anything but gave me a piercing look with extremely sad eyes.
I didn't

recognize the man so I walked slower and slower. The hairs on my neck were standing up and I turned and ran out the door. I got to my grandparent's house but didn't say anything. Shortly after the lady called me asking why I didn't come get the cookies.
I went over to the kitchen door but did ask who the man was because I had a troubled feeling in my stomach. The house was eventual sold and was renovated. Every time I went into the house I had
