it was too good to be true. The first night was scary. There were no lights outside; the only lights you could see were from cars coming by. My brother, Chris and I slept in the same room. In the house we would hear footsteps walking on the old floors. I would pray and put my cover over my head. As a kid I always had a problem sleeping, but Chris would fall fast asleep as soon as he hit the pillow. The next morning I told my mother what had happened the

previous night. I said ''momma I heard footsteps last night. '' My mother said ''it is an old house, and it makes noises sometimes. ''

by, and the footsteps in the night continued. They were getting closer and closer every night. Sometimes they got closer enough to the door and stopped. I prayed harder and harder each night until one fall night. My mother, my brother, stepfather, and I came in from shopping in Gallatin. We had to go up this big hill to get to the house, and beside it was the old church. Lots of times I was scared to look over and see a spirit in that old church. As we
