I saw lantern light in my neighbor's yard at 2:30 am several years ago. I walked out to see what was going on after watching it for at least 15 minutes. As I walked closer, I could hear a group of 4 or 5 people speaking albeit unintelligibly. Just as I was getting close enough to actually see something the voices got very loud and excited.
The light extinguished and there was absolutely nothing in the spot where the figures had been standing. I never saw anyone, not even outlines, but the blueish white lantern light was definitely moving as if being carried. This was about 250 yards from my back door. I've been awakened many times since and immediately look for the light and have never seen it again...... Yet. I keep my camera ready to roll at the back door the next time I see anything weird out there.

Comment by Keely: Hi! Would you mind sharing what area of Maryville this occurred in? My friend and I experienced something almost identical behind his house. This was probably 8-9 years ago or so. We were walking in an open area behind his house in the middle of the night when we saw what looked like a lantern bobbing up and down as if it were being carried.
As it got closer it sped up as though it was running toward us. We turned and ran and as we were running away we heard voices (maybe four or five like you said) we couldn't understand and laughing.
We looked back and the light was gone and all was quiet again.

I grew up in Binfield. It was 1963 when we bought a house in Panorama Estates. I lived there for 14 years. Our house was the third house to be built in that subdivision, and it was next door to the Spradling family (very nice people). I always knew there was an Indian burial ground or civil war ground there!! I felt more like it was an Indian burial ground though. When I was 'very' young I was terrified of my closet! Not any of the other closets in the house, just that one. And that went right along with all of the strange noises and strange happenings in that house!
