Our family moved to Pegram in 1976. Our home was at the end of Walk Up Road. It was the third house from end on left. The night we moved in my husband had left to get the last load of furniture. All of a sudden the end of our house started shaking like something was banging the end off of our house. I was terrified. I lay in the hall with my two small children horrified and afraid to move.
There were no curtains on windows or no phone yet.

It happened several times; our whole house rumbled. I've never believed in ghost. I just read this article. I had no idea of the grave yard previously.

But I have never experienced anything before or since then like the fear I experienced that night. Only several homes on the end were completed at that time. What I experienced was real. I remember it still like yesterday. We lived there nine years.

If you have not been to the end of Walkup Road in the night or during the floods, you have no idea of the souls spread along the Harpeth River. Developers bulldozed the old Pegram Cemetery and sold the soil and rock fences to unsuspecting buyers just as they did the houses which were flooded in 1975 and 2010. In 1975, a coffin of a famous lady ''popped'' to the surface and was on the TV news as ''shades of poltergeist!'' Then she was pushed back down in the front yard of one of the first houses in Harpeth Haven Subdivision, and her unresting place is hidden behind a high fence. Other graves are under the house slabs. That is but one of many eerie tales in Pegram. The town takes Halloween rides to the Sears Cemetery atop Beech Hill but never do they go to Harpeth Haven.
