When I was about 14 I lived on Avoca-Eureka Road. My parents were gone for the evening. It was about 11 at night. I was in my bedroom trying to go to sleep. All at once I heard children laughing and running by my window. I got up and looked out. Nothing was out there, so I went and lay back down. Next I heard children laughing on the porch. I looked out, and nothing was there. A few months later I went to the cemetery at the Avoca State Fish Hatchery.

I noticed a lot of the tombstones were named Turner, and were children. A few days later I was talking to my mom and mentioned this. My mom said our house
|
was built where the Turner Homestead had been.
