I grew up in the Brownsville area. River Road between State Road 44 and the edge of Brownsville always had a bad energy attached to it. Myself and many people who traveled the road could feel it. About 30 years ago a young man took the life of his girlfriend and then his life. He had asked specifically to meet her on River Road. I did not find the location of the incident strange at all due to the presence of evil that had always been along the stretch

of road. I often wondered if there were other documented cases of murder in the same area. I remember strange noises along the river at night when as

a teenager we would hang out in the area. Sounds of people talking and walking around were common. When we turned on a flashlight or car lights we would not see anyone.

Comment by C: I stumbled across this website. My family went camping just down the road from where the murder/suicide happened that very night. My aunt was driving me to the campsite. We passed the police and ambulance. That night while camping we witnessed some scary things moving in the woods behind us. Growling. We didn't sleep at all. We gathered around the fire, and my uncle had his gun out on his lap. My brother and a family friend were sleeping in the truck, and they started screaming that something was trying to get in. In the morning we heard something jump into the water and swim across to the other side of the river. In the morning our other brother joined us and told us about the murder/suicide. We actually stopped at the stop sign where it happened, and most of the blood was gone but not all of it.
Comment by Tim: I was born and raised here in Brownsville Indiana and between 44 and Brownsville on River road there used to be an old barn there was a lot of devil worshiping going on around that barn. There's all kinds of spirits down there; not a good place to be. I also lost my friend in a car accident before you get the halfway point. He was thrown from the vehicle, and then killed on down the south end of River Road just before 44. A father lost his life trying to save his child who fell in the river.
