At first, it did not particularly disturb me because I wrote it off to some natural phenomena (which is still could be, although I have my doubts). As I kept playing, the song built to it's rapid and loud finale and the fan increased the volume and tempo of it's clacking too. Eventually, the fan was clacking so fast and loud and so unnaturally in time with the music that it seemed positively demonic. After ignoring it as long as I could, I got up

and turned the fan off and immediately stopped it spinning with my hand. It clacked in time to the last. I am a physics major and I am aware that it is
|
possible for sound Waves to create sympathetic vibrations in wood and other materials if the sound happens to be at the wood's resonant frequency, but it was a song producing sound Waves at varying frequencies on cheapo computer speakers. I am no physics expert yet, but I do not see how in the realm of known physics a song played at fairly low volume on bad speakers could make my fan clack in time. Yet, That is just what happened as far as I can tell.
