Today I am packing my bags to stay at a hotel for the weekend. I have to admit I cannot stop thinking about my visit to this same hotel over fifteen years ago.
I was there for a weekend with a friend that was playing in a golf tournament. We had many events we were attending in and around the hotel throughout the weekend. We were assigned a nice room on the sixth floor. The first night we walked into the room I felt just a slight uneasiness that I just brushed off as being silly. I was not a believer and did not think about the hotel being haunted.

The second night I returned to the room by myself at 6:00 pm to get ready for a dinner that evening. This time I felt even more uneasy but just thought it was because I was by myself in a strange place. I took a shower and got dressed rather fast as I could not brush off the uneasy feeling. I was blow drying my hair when it suddenly got very cold in the room. I shut the dryer off and felt the hairs on my arms standing up and just felt like I was freezing and got very sick to my stomach. I walked from the bathroom into the bedroom and saw a shadow of a man in a black suit and top hat. He was an older man but not solid like a person. I could; however, see his facial features and to this day cannot forget his face. He then turned and walked into the closet. Needless to say I took off running like a chicken.

I told my friend about this and of course he laughed at me which was what I expected as I would have probably thought the same thing if someone was telling this to me. My story did not end there. That night we had to eventually go back to the room and to humor me my friend checked the closet, bathroom, and the entire room showing me there was nothing there. He fell asleep and I was so scared I lay awake with the TV and all the lights on. I was about 2:00 am, and I could not stay awake any longer. I shut the TV off but left every light in the room on. It was about 3:30 am when I woke in shock as I felt a hand run from my foot to the top of my leg. I sat up screaming, and there was no one there. My friend woke up and looked at me like I was crazy. I thought maybe he was playing a joke on me, but I then realized he was not even near me but on the opposite side of the bed. At this point I made my friend get up and stay up with me until we packed and left the next morning. When I got home, I told my sister about this experience, and we looked up hauntings at this hotel and found that most of the things we read mentioned the sixth floor.
So this weekend, I think I will make sure our room is not on the sixth floor but maybe the first as close to the front entrance as possible. I sure hope I do not have a revisit from the man in the top hat.

Comment by Possum96: Great story! I wonder if the closet was an actual doorway at another time in the hotel's history? Have been there to investigate twice and a lot of the alleged phenomena had been reported on the sixth floor.
