kept repeating something which by now was nothing but a murmur. I was frozen in place, as the bench began to tremble at first slightly and then so violently that the legs were leaving the floor. Then it stopped and abruptly lifted off of the floor about two feet perfectly level to the ground. Then it just stayed there. Somewhere in between all of those happenings I went to my happy place. I don't know how I got past the bench, or how I made it up one flight
