Comment by George: Berton, I don't know what to tell you on this hauntings business. It started before we bought the farm in 1953. The older people who lived around here told stories about it. One neighbors come to visit one time to tell us folks was scared to come here, and we shouldn't take it as a sign that they didn't like us. I haven't heard most of the stories on here, none on hauntings until the Elaine DeGeneres show put it on a Halloween special. Just imagination and swamp gas from the creek. The other things that happen are just some kind of natural phenomena maybe they see their reflection in a piece of broken glass. Things moving could all be because of the earth movement. Sounds could just be car wheels squealing on another road. I'm sure there is a logical explanation for all of it. Folks just don't know what it is. I don't think about it.
Comment by George: It is just my belief that it is swamp gas that Jerry who came out seemed to think it was something. I questioned him by email, and he told me his K2 meter was constantly going off while my dad and mom were showing him around the house and farm. I told him if my dad and mom were actually showing him around, it was no wonder his meter was going off. They had been dead for twenty and twenty five years respectively. He was correct on their names and the location of the farm and buildings. I cannot explain that part, and nor could he. My guess is maybe he did some kind of research on previous owners and maybe came up with their names. I will not call him a liar. As from his description he was on the farm, but I think a person of his credentials would know a ghost from a real person if ghosts really exist.

This sounds like the same place I had my experience. It's the first drive way on the left after the 330 and Saint Anthony Road cross road on the East Schnellville Road. I had kind of a spooky thing happen to me there. The cows got out, and in chasing them I went back that long lane and came to an old farm house. I knew who owned it, but never been there before and didn't know the family. Nobody around ever set foot in the place; they have all been scared of the place as long as anyone can remember. I pulled the cow trailer into the field and had my brother chasing the cow toward me. I was talking to him on the cell phone, and the cow was coming toward my trailer. I figured it was an easy catch.
Then I saw a woman heading to the well with a bucket, so I thought I should explain what I was doing. She came past the well toward me, and when I said 'hi' or something like that she just kept walking. Then she was gone, just like that into thin air. There was no place she could have gone. I was freaking out. Then she appeared again. This time she walked up to me, looked at me, and then started walking back towards the well. Then poof, she was gone. SHE WENT NOWHERE. I swear she just was there then gone. I was ready to just leave that cow and tell my brother to go back to the road when the owner came out of the house and said hello.
I told him why I was there. He said he would be glad to help. Just then my brother called and said the cow was almost to me, but it then turned around and took off. It was as if it was stung or scared. It just took off by an old pond right below where I was parked. I thought I said ''thanks, anyway'' to the owner and got out of there. I never believed in ghosts and still really don't. However, that girl was something. I saw her there. Then she wasn't there. It's been a few months, but I'll say it, I get kind of a chill. I'm glad I found this website and know I'm not alone in seeing stuff in that place.
