My father had a boss that lived on 8th Avenue when he was stationed there in the 1980s. He said that sergeant h-er-something never slept, muttered about burnt stuff, and said he truly believed in ghosts. I don't know if it's the same house in all the other Fort Knox stories, but what I do know is I came home one day, and my dad's boss's wife was at our house in Radcliff crying to my mother. I guess the lack of sleep drove him to suicide. He shot himself with an over-under shotgun in the head. Sadly his wife didn't get a dime in insurance. Again I don't know if it's the same house, but the stories about burnt smells on that same street can't be a coincidence. Submitted by Jasper

This is my fourth time living at Ft. Knox and still can't believe that hell house on 8th Avenue is still here. As a young officer, I lived in the middle house on 8th Avenue facing the O'Club (S&Q now). As soon as my young wife, my baby daughter, and I moved in my baby ''M'' started crying and screaming. I found bees out front, so I thought it was the bees. I always over think things like that. I was wrong. I learned later that night that our basement was cursed and possessed by an evil dead spirit bent on driving the living insane.
I first saw him burnt and smelling of roasted flesh and rank smoke out of the corner of my eye. He was about 6 inches from the side of my face leering at me. When I looked directly at him he was gone. My wife saw him late one night and screamed as if she had been stabbed. I grabbed my gun and ran down there and saw the devil locking lips with my wife as if he was sucking out her soul.
I ran towards her and it fled through the back wall. We grabbed our daughter and rented a room at the Motel 6 behind what was K-mart then on Dixie Hwy. I returned during the day and grabbed our stuff. We never returned. I hope that house is destroyed soon. I pray for the brave family that's there now. I hope they sleep in peace unmolested by the creature that haunts the lower level of their home.
