We lived on post at Fort Knox. After finding this site and reading the stories of others I feel comfortable sharing my story. Hopefully others will read this and know they are not crazy. Interestingly the strange happenings ALWAYS occurred after 2 am. Between 2-3 am, and almost exclusively when I was alone.
Here are a few examples of the random and odd occurrences. A few times I would be sitting in the living room watching TV, and I would hear the refrigerator door in the nearby kitchen closing. It's a very distinct sound. Not suspecting anything out of the ordinary, I went to find out who woke up to sneak a late night snack. Nobody there, and everyone in their rooms fast asleep. Odd, but I know what I heard. Also several times: the sound of something HEAVY running on the roof in the middle of the night, definitely sounded 2-legged and with quick yet heavy foot falls. My spouse witnessed this once also.

The most terrifying thing that happened was once I ran the dishwasher very late, and as ridiculous as this sounds, when I got to my bedroom I heard a low, loud, sinister whispering over the swishing of the dishwasher. It was in a language I couldn't understand, but sounded like a voice that was very angry, and uttering curses, directed at ME! Only heard that once, and never again thankfully. I could hardly believe my ears.

It seems that everyone I talked to living at Fort Knox had at least a story or two like this. My next door neighbor (same building) experienced even worse things than we did. She would joke about the 'ghost' haunting our building. Other times I would get an incredibly intense sensation that I was being watched and was not alone in the room. The only thing I could do to make any of this stop was reciting Psalm 91 aloud. It would bring an abrupt stop to everything, and it usually wouldn't happen again for awhile. . Submitted by Arnette

Back in the 50s my dad was stationed at Ft. Knox. One day he was driving a tank out to the tank training area. As he was driving there was a terrible accident. He was driving down the road, came to a hill, and as he went over the hill there were 2 men standing in the road and he could not stop in time.
