Comment by Manny: This was about three years ago and now I have found out I wrote this.

My mom and dad died in a car accident when I was eight years old. The judge gave me to my grandparents to raise. They lived in a big very old house on the edge of Owensboro. When school was out in the summer time I would sit on the back porch every night and drink iced tea and listen to crickets and bugs singing.

One night when I was just sitting there I saw a man carrying a heavy small box walk across the backyard and then disappear before he got to the gate. The next morning while we were eating breakfast I told grandpa what I had seen.

He told me it was the ghost of a moonshiner that once lived there in the 1920's. Nobody knows what happened to the moonshiner but his ghost still comes and goes across the backyard. There was once an old shed near the gate where he always disappears.
Grandpa told me he had seen the ghost for years but it is harmless and never bothered anyone.
