I grew up on Nye Hwy, two houses down from where the train tracks used to be. One winter night, driving south on Springport Rd headed home, I saw lights, like a car was speeding down Nye Hwy, headed east. They appeared to be going way too fast for the snowy roads, so I was going to check to make sure they were okay. When I reached Nye, however, there were no tracks in the snow; No one had driven down the road.
Shortly after, we started hearing train whistles at night; (The nearest train is in Charlotte. ) Then, that spring, me and my brothers were walking through the woods along the old train tracks, and found the mangled up remains of a car; On the side of the tracks, in the middle of the woods. Finally, some years later, I found an old newspaper while cleaning out my grandma's attic that had an article about a crash on Nye, where the train had hit a car, in the winter, in a thick snow storm...

Comment by Nikah: I used to live on Peck Road a few years ago. I would often hear train whistles.. Sometimes in the middle of the night. I could never figure it out! Maybe we heard the same thing??.
