Across Front Street from the ''Tastee-Freez'' (now ''Lick-ity Split''), on the other side of the alley from the stores on Bridge Street, is a parking lot. This used to be the site of a large multi-family residence, since burned down. As the apocryphal story goes ...
During the first week of April - and only when it rains - a young man in a GLHS football uniform and with a bandaged head can be seen staring forlornly down the stairway. If
|
anyone sees him from the street, he will mouth the words ''I'm sorry'' before turning and walking east.
There are never any footprints, and no
|
one has ever seen him from anywhere in the parking lot. Some say that he is the ghost of a football player who played once too often without his helmet. Others say that he was the neighborhood bully doing penance in the netherworld for beating up on the weak. Either way, there have been only a half-dozen alleged sightings in the last decade, and no one has produced a picture of this unfortunate soul. Submitted by Fnord
