his eyes, they laid upon me like I was going to be his next meal. I suddenly ran back, grabbed my son and we got our things and left. When my son asked what had happened to the deer, I told him it just hurt it's leg and was lying down. For the rest of that night, I could not get that image of his eyes staring at me out of my mind. We haven't gone to the tennis courts ever since that incident.

I have lived on the beautiful island of Grosse Ile for no more than two years. During my first year here I did not have many friends. During this bored and lonely time I often took to the woods to enjoy nature trails and explore the island's gorgeous green space.

These hikes were always serene and were a good way to escape the chaos of everyday life. One time while I was walking through a patch of woods near the south end of the island adjacent to the soccer fields, and across the street from the airport I saw an unusual figure in the light of the setting sun proceeding across the path in front of me.
The person was very large and thick in stature. At first I assumed it was just an overweight individual trying to get some much-needed exercise under the cover of night. Feeling a little more calm I proceeded toward the shadowy figure.
When I was about 30 feet behind the slowly-walking man I began to hear heavy breathing. He stopped and I hid behind a fallen tree. He turned around facing me. let out a strange hissing laugh and turned back around.
