pads laying out on top on the box like they had been left for me. I just said ''thank you'' and ran upstairs.
Another time I was coming home from work, and in my side mirror I saw a tall young man with red hair walking swiftly behind my car towards my neighbor's house. There's a tall wooden fence between our yards there, so there's no way a person would walk briskly right into the fence. I called out my husband's name, but I knew it wasn't him.

I live on S. Elm Street in downtown. I have lived here for nine years, and my wife has been here for fifteen. Our home definitely has activity. One day we came home from the lake down the street, and we found an elderly lady sitting on our porch. I greeted her, and she asked if we lived there and that she had some ''records'' that should stay with the home. This home was relocated from Wetmore Street where the train station is now located.
It was built in the 1800s and moved around 1924. She had photos going back to the homes original location and up to its current when she last visited the home in 1992. It was 2016 when we met. She had pictures and stories, all fascinating, but we learned that several people had died here over the years and that funerals were routinely held in our parlor. Before we knew of these details we had experienced many strange occurrences. However, they have all been either benign or even protective. One example is when I was sitting in our barn (it's one of the only homes in Howell city limits with a barn. ) I had the garage doors all closed because it was cold and rainy. I was using my smoker, which I had setup in the driveway about 40' from the barn.
At about 3:30 am while I was flipping through a magazine, somebody started pounding on my sheet metal garage doors. The noise was loud and scared the hell out of me. My heart was racing, and I froze. Then it happened again. This time I ran up to the door and slung it open, (this door was not equipped with an opener) and there was nobody there. My driveway is over 100' long and there was no way that a prankster could have disappeared before I opened the door. My smoker was engulfed in flames. The thermostat had failed. I was clearly being alerted to this.
