Comment by No name: Baker college was the regional retardation center in the 60's, 70s. The cemetery was part of the county poor farm (poor house) where people who had no place to go would live and work the farm. The property extended from Apple to Marquette. The cemetery was Muskegon's ''potters field''.

I'm convinced many places downtown are haunted and not just the historical houses of all the lumber barons of the late 1880's to 1890s. One place I find always having chills when I'm alone walking around parts of it is the hackley public library.

I have been told the haunting or the creepy feelings one gets there has something to do with a former employee but there has been no record of any employee death or consumer death at the library. Yet the glass floor section of the library just located to the left of the computer room and directly above it has a very creepy feeling. Walking around there alone no matter if it's midday or just before the library closes. I couldn't help but feel I was being watched and followed around by something up there. The feeling immediately left after I exited the floor but I'm leery about going up there by myself ever again. Submitted by Mike
Comment by anonymous: Yes the story goes that someone died on that glass floor open level. I was very young when I went up there and felt the same thing. Old Hackley himself who haunts the library, it's common knowledge. I believe I heard he haunts the sitting room the most. My house is downtown and it is haunted. It's by Nelson School.
