My wife and I bought a house that had sat empty for about five years in the Jackson Hill neighborhood, just off Marquette Avenue. During the first year of living in this house I would constantly see things moving in the corner of my eyes whenever I would sit in the living room. However, whenever I would turn to look, nothing was there. I would also see things moving in my bedroom. One time it was about one in the morning, and I could not sleep. When I was lying awake, from the closet a black figure came out, floated up the wall to the ceiling, floated across the ceiling, and then disappeared when it reached the ceiling fan. The whole time I had a feel of sorrow mixed with hate. I got a feeling that whatever that thing was, it wanted me dead.
I never said anything to anyone in my house because I did not want to frighten them. Then a couple of days later as my wife and I were sitting in the living room watching TV, our eight-year old son (It was about 8 o'clock at night, and the sun had already set at this point) was up in his room playing with his toys. Across from his bedroom doorway is the bathroom, and he came running down the steps crying. He said he saw a black figure standing in the bathroom (That has to be the fastest I have ever seen the boy move, and I swear he skipped darn near every step on his way down).

About two weeks after that my wife and daughter would hear pounding coming from the basement. It was like something was pounding on the metal support beam from the floor to the ceiling. Whenever my wife went to investigate, the minute she opened the basement door the noise would stop. Several days after the last time my wife and daughter heard the banging, I heard it. It was about nine in the morning, and the wife and kids were at work and school. As I was drinking my coffee and watching the morning news, the same banging noise that my wife described was coming from the basement. The minute I opened the basement door, the noise stopped. In my investigation with the basement noise, I looked up and down and nothing could explain the banging noise. It was not a water pipe, nothing!

Soon after we contacted a priest to bless our home, and the noises and the things I saw in the corner of my eyes stopped, for the most part. From time to time, I would see things moving near my living room window, but the objects were outside. It was as if these things were walking by the window trying to look in. One night, another sleepless night, as I lay in bed and looked out the window, I could see in the dim of the yard light a black figure float across my backyard, float above my car and then disappeared.
