Ballinger Park is haunted.|
Submitted by Shannon
I was walking to school, and I went past an old abandoned house. I've heard rumors that a man had died, and there's a tree growing in the basement. I never dared to look through the window because I feared that there would be ghosts. When I walked past it one day I saw a pale man run behind a bush. Here's a fact. Don't live in a house in East Grand Rapids, MI next to Lakeside School.

I grew up in a haunted house from the ages of three to twelve years old. So many things, scary and terrifying things happened to myself and my family. I will start from the first one. I remember my dad and I were watching TV in the back room off the kitchen. My mom was in the kitchen, and my sister and cousin were upstairs in the bedroom my sister and I were sharing. They were listening to Kiss (that's how long ago it was,) but anyway the bedroom was right above the TV backroom. All of a sudden we heard a crash. Then my sister and cousin were on top of me and my dad. How they made it down the stairs through the living room that fast I did not know. They were screaming and crying to the point you could not understand them. We all went upstairs, and my sister's bed was torn apart. The mattress was one way, the box springs the other. She had a heavy maple full size bed completely apart.
My mom is a no-nonsense-type person. She does not believe in ghosts, so she was so mad that the bed was apart like that. She blamed my sister and cousin, and they said they did not do it. They said that the bed levitated with them on it and broke apart. My dad said to my mom ''there was no way that those two could even lift the mattress that high and throw across the room without us hearing. '' They were maybe twelve or thirteen at the time. They were skinny. I was terrified, I was only five or six, so after that my sister wanted to sleep in the basement. Dad bought her a waterbed, and I would always sleep with her. I could not tell you how many times my mom would come down there. She would wake us up to tell us to stay out of the kitchen, not to slam cabinet doors, or not to run up and down the stairs because we either had school the next day or they had to work.
Some of the experiences are typical like someone walking in the house, and the back door would be wide open even though it was locked and chained. Lights would be going on and off. Sometimes closet doors would open by themselves. I had the feeling of someone watching me. I also saw a man from the waist down walking downstairs. He would be screaming at you and breathing down your neck, and then another I don't even want to talk about. My parents divorced and we moved out of state. For a few years my sister's friends said nobody would stay in the house long. One family even left all their belongings and never came back. That was second hand, so I don't know how true it is. I've never written about my experiences before, but the fact that this site lists them by county I thought maybe a new owner would share their experiences. I grew up being terrified of the upstairs of our house, and I hope that another parent sees this and believes their kids. The house was on Pine Street, and it is still there. It is a little run-down, so whoever lives there, good luck. I am glad it is not me.
