What you're about to read is something that I have kept secret for a very long time but I'm getting old and I think this story should be told. When I was a kid a friend of mine and I were playing cowboys and Indians down by the railroad tracks.
This stray cat came by and my friend thought it would be a good idea to pretend he was an enemy and tie him to the railroad tracks so we did. It was a dumb thing to do but we were going to untie the cat.

It was just a game. That is until a train came. We panicked and tried to untie the cat but there wasn't enough time so we had to stand back and watch the poor cat get run over by the train. After that my friend kept having nightmares about the cat and he told me the cat would come to his room at night and wake him up.

One time he showed me claw marks that he had received from the cat. The cat kept coming after him and when he was 18 he committed suicide. The night before he took his life he told me that the cat wouldn't leave him alone and he couldn't take it any more.
This was almost 60 years ago but I still think of it every single day.
